Parade Announces 2011 High School All-Americans

Parade announced the 2011 All-America Basketball Teams this week.

Austin Rivers (Duke), Bradley Beal (Florida), Anthony Davis (Kentucky), Chase Fischer (Wake Forest), Adonis Thomas (Memphis), Rodney Cooper (Alabama), Dantley Walker (UNLV), DJ Gardner (Mississippi State), Trevor Lacey (Undecided) and Wayne Blackshear (Louisville) were named to the First Team.

On the Second Team were D'Angelo Harrison (St. John's), Adam Smith (UNC-Wilmington), Troy Wroten (Washington), Chane Behanan (Louisville), Cody Zeller (Indiana), Trey Burke (Michigan), Kyle Caudill (Boston College), Jahil Carson (Arizona State), LeBryan Nash (Oklahoma State) and Angelo Chol (Arizona).

Receiving Third Team honors were Wesley Saunders (Harvard), Shelby Moats (Vanderbilt), Devonta Abron (Arkansas), Jarvis Threatt (Delaware), Amir Williams (Ohio State), Jordan Baker (Pepperdine), Branden Dawson (Michigan State), P.J. Hairston (North Carolina), James McAdoo (North Carolina) and Xavier Ford (Buffalo).

The Fourth Team was comprised of Julien Lewis (Texas), Jake White (Wichita State), Johnny O'Bryant (LSU), Tanner Wozniak (FIU), Myck Kabongo (Texas), Reese Morgan (Cal Poly), Michael Gilchrist (Kentucky), Colun Gruber (Northern Arizona), Ryan Spangler (Gonzaga) and Marquis Teague (Kentucky).

Santa Clara Wins 2011 CollegeInsider Tourney

Ben Dowdell had 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists as Santa Clara handled Iona 76-69 to win the third annual CollegeInsider.com tournament on Wednesday night.

Kevin Foster had 16 points and the Broncos placed five in double figures en route to the easy road victory over the Gaels. Santa Clara led 38-28 at the half, and outrebounded Iona 39-32.

Foster was named Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammate Troy Payne and Marc Trasolini, Papa Dia (SMU), Mike Glover and Scott Machado (Iona) and Mike Smith (East Tennessee State).

Akron Win 2011 MAC Tournament

Akron defeated Kent State by a final of 66-65 in the title game of the 2011 Mid-American Conference Tournament.

Akron came into the tournament as the sixth seed.

Zeke Marshall was named Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammate Brett McKnight, along with Justin Greene and Mike Porrini (Kent State) and Jarrod Jones (Ball State).

Justin Greene of Kent State has won the 2011 MAC Player of the Year award. Javon McCrea won Freshman of the Year and Mike Porrini won Defensive POY.

Joining Greene on the All-MAC First Team was D.J. Cooper (Ohio), Jarrod Jones (Ball State), Julian Mavunga (Miami of Ohio), Xavier Silas (Northern Illinois).

Named to the All-MAC Second Team was Brandon Bowdry (Eastern Michigan), Nikola Cvetinovic (Akron), Byron Mulkey (Buffalo), Rodriquez Sherman (Kent State), Demetrius Ward (Western Michigan).
